The Future of Energy

BY AES Kazakhstan

AES recently had the pleasure of hosting USA Pavilion (USAP) Student Ambassadors and other USAP team members at the two hydroelectric power plants we currently operate in Eastern Kazakhstan. It was a great opportunity for us to share how we’re delivering on our mission of improving lives with safe, sustainable and reliable energy solutions in the markets we serve with the people and students who have volunteered their time to work at Expo 2017.

Since 1931, World Expos have brought together countries, companies, international organizations, the private sector, the civil society and the general public to share innovative ideas, promote progress and foster cooperation. With the theme of Future Energy this year, EXPO 2017 visitors in Astana, Kazakhstan have an opportunity to see what countries and companies alike are doing to create new models of energy for future generations.

At AES, we are proud to be a sponsor of the USA pavilion and featured in other pavilions of countries where we have a presence to showcase our unique world-class energy solutions to meet the energy needs of both today and tomorrow in the markets we serve.

As one of the first independent power producers in the USA and now a global Fortune 200 global power company we’ve been applying proven technologies and innovating commercial models to bring dependable, cost effective power to utilities and their customers. For example, more than a decade ago, a small group of AES people began working on applying advanced battery technology to the electric grid. Today, Advancion 4, our latest generation of battery-based energy storage reduces the cost of delivering electricity, supports the integration of renewables like wind and solar, and enables grid reliability and resiliency.

We also lead the industry in applying drone-based technology for inspections of things like power lines, reservoirs, cooling towers and boilers. Drones help improve the way energy is managed and serviced, reducing the exposure of people to the inherent hazards of the industry and increasing the availability of all energy infrastructure assets

The energy industry is changing at an unprecedented rate and the power grid of the 21st century will look very different from what we have seen in the past. Our global platform, diverse portfolio mix by generation sources and technologies, and leading presence in many growing markets, make us well positioned to meet evolving customer needs and improve people’s quality of life by providing affordable and sustainable energy.
